A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. The very first people who told us about stereotypes would've been our parents or guardians as they are our first influential teachers. We can also pick up stereotypes in the media and from significant others. Stereotypes are used to label people and place them in different categories depending on what their personalities and intellect are perceived to be. This is why stereotypes are so negative and damaging towards people. People should have a choice to be what they want to be, look how they want to look and strive to achieve what they want to in life. Stereotypes are not accurate at all as nobody should have to act or look a certain way. This is why they are so toxic and upsetting towards people.
